RedHat is currently the most widely used Linux Distribution. It is RPM-based, meaning that the core application package for RedHat is binary RPMs.
RedHat's strengths are ease of install and general ease of use. It's weaknesses are "RPM-dependency Hell" (see http://www.distrowatch.com/dwres.php?resource=article-rpm) and a somewhat bloated and inflexible install base.
