UNIX02/Fix XFree86s Resolution Under FreeBSD

Classnotes | UNIX02 | RecentChanges | Preferences

By default, XFree86 under FreeBSD is configured to run at the highest resolution it can detect your card is capable of. In this classroom, this means you will probably be running your screen at 1280x1024 on a 15 to 17 inch screen... Which is probably quite unpleasant to use!

Using the techniques discussed previously, edit your /etc/X11/XF86Config file to default at a different resolution than this highest one. While you are at it, make it default to a screen depth of your choice (I would personally recommend 24-bit or 16-bit).
