Tux Typing 1.0.2 released!: 2002 Aug 14 (Wed), 21:31

Tux4Kids is pleased to announce the latest version of Tux Typing (stable), 1.0.2! Tux Typing is an "edutainment" typing tutor game starring Tux, the Linux Penguin.

You can find the latest Tux Typing for your platform of choice at the Tux Typing download page.

Recent changes:

• Applied all of Calvin's stable performance and memleak patches (finally ;-)
• Fixed the colorkeying issues with some versions of libpng (it now should work on /all/ libpng versions and installations since colorkeying is now based image-per- image, instead of globally)
• Fixed some minor animation speed issues (frames-on-screen, etc.)
• Other misc. bugfixes

Tux Paint version 2002.08.09: 2002 Aug 14 (Wed), 21:35

Tux Paint is a simple and entertaining drawing tool for young children, released as Open Source software under terms of the GNU General Public License. Based on the Simple DirectMedia Layer libraries, Tux Paint is a portable program which is currently available as sourcecode, or pre-compiled for Linux or Windows.

Many congrats go out to Bill K. and the rest of the Tux Paint crew! Keep up the good work!

This release follows so closely on the heels of 1.0.2 because in the 2-3 weeks since then, we've had some awesome patches applied and it warrants another release. Here's the changes:

• Smoothscroll patch applied (for those who don't know, this drastically cuts down on memory usage in game, as well as minorly boosts performance)
• rand() bugfix (thx to Jesse Andrews)
• wordfile bugfix (now it's 200 words /per/ file, instead of 200 words total. If you haven't tried this in CVS yet, download this release, because there are words in these word files you've never seen before! ;-)

Norwegian Nynorsk localisation of Tux Typing: 2002 Aug 27 (Tue), 22:30

We are pleased to announce that Tux Typing (stable) now has a Norwegian Nynorsk localisation! You can download it as a language theme-pack from the Tux Typing theme page. At this page, you can also find other great theme-packs including language packs for French, Dansk, and American Sign Language.

The Norwegian Nynorsk language theme comes from Karl Ove Hufthammer. Much gratitude goes out to him for his efforts!
