TuxTyping Developer Resources
Daily Tux Typing CVS snapshots can be found here: stable |
dev. Also,
an example RPM spec file can be found here. If you want to make an RPM for your
platform, please read my small Tux Typing RPM info page.
The Tux Typing project is hosted here at
SourceForge. Because of the good folks there, we have a wide
range of tools available for development. Here are but a small sampling of those available which we use:
- Tux Typing News: Here is where you will find
all the latest news items relating to the Tux Typing project.
- Bug Submission/Tracking: If you are a
tester, this is where you can submit bugs. If you are a developer, feel free to browse these listed
bugs and see if you can resolve them.
- Mailing List: Tux Typing has two
mailing lists available, one for developers
and one for announcements. The developer one
is for those interrested in assisting with the project by contributing code or finding bugs. The announcement one
is a very low traffic, moderated list for Tux Typing related announcements.
- CVS: The source code for Tux Typing is stored
in the CVS at SourceForge. It can be obtained (anonymously) and tracked here. Some links relating to CVS are:
- Open Source Development with CVS by Karl Fogel is an excellent book on CVS. It can be purchased
here, and selected chapters (covered by the Gnu GPL)
can be found here.
- SourceForge has a nice HOWTO
on CVS as it pertains to SourceForge's repository. They also have a FAQ.
- Tux Typing Forums: There are a few forums here for
Tux Typing, however, be warned: They aren't honestly used that much by those who are actively developing. If you want to
communicate with Tux Typing users, then you may want to do it here (although, the Tux Typing users don't seem to
be using the forums much more than the developers!). If you have any problems, bugs, patches, etc. that the developers need
to see, you really should get on the developer's mailing list.
