Currently I am employed at the [University of Arizona] [Physics Dept.] as a "Support Systems Analyst". Basically, that means I'm one of the SysAdmin?'s there.
Primarily I work with MsWindows, making it play nice in what is primarily a UNIX environment. See, I hate MsWindows.. and so do my co-workers. For our ServerOS's we use things like Linux and other UNIXes. But most of our EndUsers want and need (or think they need ;-) MsWindows. Since my boss can't stand MsWindows, and since I am very comfortable working with UNIX, I was hired to be the MsWindows "liason" (if you will) to the UNIX network we have.
Want a job in the computer industry?
- My advice is to not limit yourself to just one OS (like MsWindows, which is what SOOOOO many tech people do). Gain a lot of experience with a variety of RealOS's (especially Linux and FreeBSD), perhaps get involved in some CrossPlatform? OpenSource? or FreeSoftware projects. At any rate.... never limit yourself.
