Atari2600

The Atari2600 was my first video game console (of course, it was also the first one to achieve wide-spread popularity, so it's not coincidence that it was my first console). I was given it one Xmas or Bday (or something) when I was very young (probably 4 years old). It is one of my CherishedConsoles, as I have many great gaming memories with it.

This was the first system to use programmable cartridges to allow developers make new games for the system. This system also featured the first video game to have and ending, Pitfall? by Activision.

The greatest thing about this system is that now you can download and play all these old games, legally and for free, on your modern computer using an emulator (my favorite is Stella for Linux).
