After that, you will want to defuglify the fonts under Debian. The fonts already look better than they did under Red Hat because they are anti-aliased. But they could look better still with the mscorefonts we installed last week.

Your default /etc/apt/sources.list file will be filled with entries you may not want. Edit it and restore it to a sensible defaults.

Once you have done that, update your apt-get cache and install nano. Nano's package page is here on Debian's site: http://packages.debian.org/testing/editors/nano.html
