UNIX03/Test Neighbors Firewall

Classnotes | UNIX03 | RecentChanges | Preferences

The Adaptive Firewall we set up earlier will effectively block all the attempts made against the system in real time. However, it will not protect against performing an initial scan (unless that scan is very intrusive).

Find a friend in the class, and use nmap to scan their system. You should get a list of ports on that system. Use something to try and connect to one of the ports listed on their system (for example, you could try to SSH in, or telnet into a port such as 25).

Verify that you get blocked.
