Classnotes | LDAP01 | RecentChanges | Preferences At present, Debian may or may not have your editor of choice installed. Since this may very well be the first time you've ever worked with Debian, let's spend about 5 minutes or so installing a simple Debian package just so that we can be prepared for when we need to install others.
Go to Debian's package listing for Unstable (this is the branch we will be working in), http://packages.debian.org/unstable/, and find the editor you would prefer to use. If you do not know which editor you would prefer, then I would suggest trying nano.
Once you have found your editor of choice, install it using apt-get. Be sure to clear and upate the cache before doing it.
